A police helicopter was deployed in the early hours after four people ran off from a stolen vehicle.

Hertfordshire Constabulary said that just before 1.20am this morning (March 31), police came across a vehicle of interest in High Street, Bushey.

The county's police force said the vehicle was driven into a dead end as officers approached before four people got out and ran off.

It was then that a police helicopter was called to help carry out a search of the area.

Police discovered the vehicle had been stolen and was on false number plates.

Gloves and screwdrivers were also found inside.

Police have made three arrests following the incident. All three remain in police custody.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

  • A 16-year-old girl from Dagenham was arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without consent, going equipped and theft.
  • A 17-year-old boy from Barking was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and going equipped.
  • A 15-year-old boy from Dagenham was arrested on suspicion of going equipped and theft.
