MORE than £500,000 from the Mayor of London is to go on community projects at the Havelock estate in Southall, which is being regenerated.
The Mayor’s Good Growth Fund is contributing half the cost of project Open Havelock, which will transform 36 redundant garages and unused space.
It will help Catalyst Housing create a range of benefits while work on the estate is carried out.
Initiatives include creating a base for The Sharks Canoe Club, an environmental improvement hub, a children’s secret garden and a mobile canteen.
Open Havelock is run in partnership with Catalyst and Ealing Council, along with the Canal & River Trust, Sharks Canoe Club and Westplay Play Association.
