THE Supreme Court today ruled against young mum Alina Dulgheriu, who challenged a Public Spaces Protection Order (exclusion zone) around an abortion clinic in Ealing.
Alina had received help from a group, now banned, and argued that the order violates rights to freedom of speech and assembly.
She is now considering her options for challenging the decision, including going to the European Court of Human Rights.
“The disproportionate and wide-ranging measure taken by Ealing Council sets a negative precedent and outlaws even the most compassionate offer of assistance,” said Laurence Wilkinson, legal counsel for ADF International.
“Evidence shows that hundreds of women – like Alina – have accepted the help offered by peaceful pro-life groups outside abortion centres.”
Alina said: “My little girl is here today because of the practical and emotional support I was offered outside a Marie Stopes centre (in Mattock Lane), and I brought the appeal to ensure other women did not have this vital support option removed.”
