MORE than a thousand young people attended the St Benedict’s Careers Fair in Ealing this month.

Representatives from more than 150 organisations, including the BBC, St Thomas’ Hospital and Allied Irish Bank, gave an insight into life as a surgeon, engineer, lawyer, journalist, architect and many other professions.

The fair was closed by keynote speaker Tim Woollias, of Google, who talked about his own career path.

Many jobs at Google, he said, use a range of skills, such as the art of persuasion, the ability to form an argument, teamwork and creative thinking. A degree in computer science is not always required.

Headmaster Andrew Johnson said: “Our biennial careers fair is the largest single event the school undertakes.

“We were delighted to welcome pupils from our partnership schools, Sacred Heart High School, Hammersmith, Cardinal Wiseman and St Augustine’s Priory.”
