PEOPLE in Hillingdon are being encouraged to mark the 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day and the end of the World War Two in Europe by holding a street party on Friday, May 8.

With this year's bank holiday moving from Monday, May 4, to the Friday, residents wanting to organise a street party can now apply to the council for free road closures, public notices, traffic management and public liability insurance.

Road closures will be considered for cul-de-sacs, crescents, quiet roads that are not through roads and not on bus routes.

Application forms are available on www.hillingdon.gov.uk/VEDay75. The deadline for applications is Friday, April 3.
