AN Ealing business is in the running for a city start-up award after a year inspiring people across the borough.

Veeloop was launched in 2018 by mothers Randa Bennett and Patricia Salume as a way to give children the freedom to shop independently online while retaining visibility and control for parents.

The project was offered a home as entrepreneur-in-residence at the University of West London’s Westmont Enterprise Hub.

One year on, it has a team of five and is reaching out to the whole community – offering support and mentoring to start-ups and parents with new business ideas.

Randa, who also runs advice sessions and guest lectures to inspire young entrepreneurs at the university, is excited to see the venture short-listed for Start Up of the Year 2020 in the West London Business Awards.

Randa said: “The Hub gave us a home and now we are able to employ students and parents on a flexible basis.

“We are mothers ourselves, so helping people do what they love with flexibility and support to fit that around family life is something we feel strongly about.”
