A FORMER Swindon Town footballer has admitted affray and assault.

Appearing before Nottingham Crown Court on Friday afternoon, 26-year-old Dion Donohue pleaded guilty to affray, GBH and assault.

The charges relate to an incident in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, on August 16 last year.

Donohue was sacked by Mansfield Town in the wake of the alleged assaults. The defender had been performing well at Swindon Town late last year and the Robins had hoped to sign him on a permanent contract.

The footballer is next due before Leicester Crown Court on March 13.

His co-accused, former team mate at Mansfield Town Jacob Mellis, 29, has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
