A life-long villager and voluntary yoga teacher has been recognised by her parish council.

Margaret Horwood, 87, is a Bovingdon stalwart and lived in the village all of her life.

She owned the former Horwoods bakery and 45 years ago, while managing the bakery, set up Bovingdon Yoga Group.

Every penny of profit Mrs Horwood makes from her yoga group at the Memorial Hall in the village is donated to charity, including Bovingdon Day Care, Hemel Alzheimers’ and Dementia Care and the Hospice of St. Francis.

As a thank you for her dedication to community life in the village, Bovingdon Parish Council is dedicating a village flower bed to her.

Yoga group member Jane Taylor had nominated Mrs Horwood because she wants her to be recognised for all the work she has put in to improving the health and wellbeing of members as well as all the support she has provided for the charities.
