A father has paid a moving tribute to his “beautiful genius” son after he died from a rare form of cancer.

Jack Morgan died in August this year after he was diagnosed with NUT Midline Carcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer that can form anywhere in the body.

Jack, who died when he was just 22 years old, was previously diagnosed with cancer in his head and neck in October 2017 while studying Maths and Engineering at Bristol University, but was cleared of the disease in early 2018.

But after getting his life back on track, in January this year the cancer returned to his lungs.

After Jack was diagnosed with cancer, he blogged online about his journey, which managed to reach 30,000 followers.

And Jack’s dad Grant Morgan, who lives in Barnet, said he used social media as the “ultimate force for good”.

He continued: “He used it to educate, motivate, inspire, touch and communicate with over 25,000 people the world over, most of whom though having never even met him, love him as if they have, while following his journey on a near daily basis.”

Despite going through cancer treatment, Jack still managed to achieve a 2:1 at University – and his father said he had a “phenomenal brain”.

He added: “He was developing technology for young cancer patients and I want to take this to market in his legacy.

“Jack is a beautiful genius That’s not biased parental opinion. Simply a statement of fact endorsed by an academic record befitting of smart thinkers."

A football tournament is set to go ahead tomorrow (Saturday, November 30) in Jack’s memory to raise money for North London Hospice.

Around 28 teams have signed up for the fundraiser, which has so far raised £379.66 of the £500 targeted.

Mr Morgan, who said his son was an Arsenal supporter, added: “I am hoping this annual event will get bigger and bigger in memory of Jack.

“Lots of people are taking part in this event and he even has a friend coming back from LA to take part.

"Jack did so much for this family and I am at my happiest when I am talking about my son."

The match will take place at 31 Pursley Rd, Mill Hill, London NW7 2BB from 11.30am to 2.30pm.
