Love it or loathe it, there's no denying that most people will be getting into the Halloween spirit this week.

Master the Dark Arts

Fans of Death Eaters, daring duels and Halloween feasts are invited to explore the darkness of the Wizarding World. The Great Hall set will be decorated with over 100 floating pumpkins and the tables will also be laden with a Halloween feast of red apples, pumpkins, and cauldrons of lollipops. Brush up on your wand moves in an exciting live duel with Death Eaters. In addition, vats of slimy troll snot, buckets of dribbling drool (of the three-headed dog variety) and pools of silvery unicorn blood will be showcased allowing you to get hands-on and see exactly how the slime and goo was created.

Pumpkin Festival

Every child will be able to pick a pumpkin from the thousands in the pumpkin patch to take home or carve in the carving cavern. There will be a daily competition for the best carved pumpkin of the day. Also in the carving cavern children will be able to get creative with some spookily fun Halloween arts and crafts. New to Pumpkin Festival this year are some prehistoric visitors with dinosaur shows and activities including visits from a stegosaurus, allosaurus and triceratops.

Night Terrors

Spine-tingling tales of the supernatural from E.F. Benson’s brilliant collection of ghost stories, Night Terrors. Pumpkin Trail and Treats

Children can participate in a series of fun games and activities and earn stamps on their Pumpkin Passport from the costumed staff at each activity. There will be a varied range of games, including old favourites such as Terror Tunnel, Hungry Ghosts and What’s in the Box? Children that complete the passport by collecting all of the stamps will be rewarded with a goody bag. Other pumpkin activities will include storytelling, the Pumpkin Bag Tree where participants can claim an extra reward if they guess the correct number of pumpkins hanging in the tree, and fun competitions.

Ghost Hunt

Join paranormal investigator, Angelina Georgiou, on a ghost hunt around the museum’s grounds and buildings. With all the history in the museum’s buildings it should be an interesting exploration. There is very little site lighting so please bring a torch, you will also need warm clothing and sensible shoes.
