A construction boss at a high-rise housing development has been named as one of the best in the country.

Senior site manager Duncan Garrett, 46, originally from Rickmansworth, has been recognised by the National House Building Council for his work on Barratt London's Harrow Square development in College Road, Harrow.

The annual Pride in the Job Quality awards are given for the best run building sites in the country, and are the highest accolade a site manager can achieve.

In addition to spot checks from the NHBC, site managers are judged on their consistency, attention to detail, leadership, technical expertise, and health and safety.

Duncan said: “I am very proud to be recognised in the Pride in the Job awards this year for my work at Harrow Square. I have been living in Perthshire and travelling to London to work for six years now, and will shortly be moving to Harrow Square to rent as a London base whilst I am still working in the area at our Eastman Village site.

"There is a great work ethic at Barratt London, and everyone on site works extremely hard to deliver high quality homes for the new communities that we build. I’d also like to thank the rest of the site team for all of their hard work.”

This year there were more than 16,000 entrants for the awards, with just 450 winners being chosen. In total, 84 site managers from Barratt Developments, of which Barratt London is a part of, won a Pride in the Job Quality award, more than any other house builder.

This year has seen Barratt Developments win more Pride in the Job Quality awards than any other house builder for the 15th year in a row.

Ed McCoy, sales and marketing director for Barratt West London, added: “These awards recognise only the very best new homes and well run sites, and we are delighted that Duncan has won an award for his work at Harrow Square.

"Pride in the Job Quality awards are something that customers can look out for as a quality mark knowing their home has been built to the highest standard possible. To win more of these awards than any other housebuilder for 15 years in a row is a real point of difference which shows how committed we are to building high quality homes for our customers.”
