Autism hour: on the first of every month
THIS Saturday (5), intu Uxbridge shopping centre will be supporting the National Autistic Society’s Autism Hour – and will continue to do so monthly.
From 9am-10am, on the first Saturday of every month, the centre and its stores will attempt to create a more autism-friendly experience.
This includes turning down the volume of loudspeaker announcements, of music in shops, and on tills.
The centre will also dim the lights, plus there will be clear information about where things are and quiet spaces to go to.
Orange wrist bands are available at customer services and have been designed as a discreet way of informing staff you are autistic.
