NATIONAL Recycle Week last week was supported by Hillingdon Council, which held events in the borough to remind people about what can be re-used.

First event was a litter pick at Lake Farm Country Park in Hayes, where the borough’s countryside officer joined volunteers from the Friends of Lake Farm to collect litter. Thirteen bags were collected, nine of which could be recycled.

The second initiative was a stall in Uxbridge High Street, where more than 200 people spoke with the waste and recycling team about the council’s free weekly recycling services.

Hillingdon is one of the few remaining councils to have weekly household waste and recycling collections.
