AN inspirational security manager from intu Uxbridge, described by colleagues as a “breath of fresh air”, attended a Women in Security awards night in London.
Janet Owen had been nominated by her workmates in the Security Manager of the Year category. Though she didn’t win, she was presented with a certificate.
Her nomination came for transforming the shopping centre’s security team of 28 and drastically reducing staff turnover.
She initiated a project led to anti-social behaviour in Uxbridge town centre dropping by 52% and established the Uxbridge Town Centre Security Group.
A former sandwich shop owner and traffic warden, she holds free workshops for the town’s retailers.
