THAMES Hospice is launching Raise The Roof, the most ambitious public fund-raising appeal in its 30-year history, to find the final £3m to complete the build of a new state-of-the-art hospice for the community.

With up to 10 families a day not getting the hospice care they need, Thames Hospice needs to expand the care it can provide for families.

The appeal will launch at its Uxbridge shop in the High Street, this Sunday (8) from 11.30am when shoppers will be able to mingle with special guests.

Debbie Raven, chief executive, said: “We are overwhelmed by the support of the Uxbridge community who will help us to spread the word about our appeal. Please come and join us and let’s Raise the Roof together!”

The Uxbridge celebration is one of a series of roadshows in the Thames Valley from September 7-14.

The hospice’s existing building in Windsor has been added to, altered and expanded and cannot be adapted any further to meet growing demand.

Construction started at the beginning of this year on a new £22m building set in eight acres by Bray Lake.
