A TOTAL of 181 affordable homes could be built if proposals get the go ahead.

Hart Homes, a joint venture between Watford Community Housing and Watford Borough Council, has commissioned the new phase of the Croxley Green regeneration plan next to Croxley View Road, Watford.

The site was formerly earmarked for a link road connecting Tolpits Lane and Ascot Road.

The scheme includes rental and shared ownership properties, public and private amenity space and facilities to encourage bus use and cycling.

Of the proposed homes, 20 per cent would be social rented housing, 65 per cent affordable housing and 15 per cent shared ownership. Most range between one to three bedrooms.

Plans also suggest rerouting a continuous cycle path around Ebury Way, a popular rail trail between Rickmansworth and Watford. A section of Ebury Way will be replaced with 184 car parking spaces and additional cycle bays.

Most of the existing trees would be retained.

The proposals are part of a wider plan of four phases for the redevelopment of land to the west of Croxley View estate, near Watford Business Park.

Watford Borough Council has earmarked £13million to the plan for economic development and environmental improvements.

The site is part of a wider development where 303 homes and 40 units of short-term accommodation are expected to be provided.

People can give their comments and feedback about the proposal up until September 6 at https://pa.watford.gov.uk/publicaccess.
