A new cashless parking provider for Transport for London (TfL) station car parks has taken over.

PayByPhone, a mobile payment company, has become the mobile cashless parking provider for any of TfL’s 80 station car parks.

The cashless method launched last week (August 19), providing an easier method of payment for the TfL car parks which are managed by National Car Parks (NCP).

PayByPhone users can use the service through their smartphones without any parking transaction fees and can additionally choose to pay for text messages that remind them before a parking session expires.

For the user’s convenience, customers can also extend their parking sessions remotely, so that customers feel less inclined to rush a trip. The feature has also now been introduced to Apple Watch users with WatchOS 4 installed, allowing parking to be extended directly from their wrist.

Stations including Watford Station, Bushey Station, Harrow on the Hill station, Wembley Park and Redbridge station are among the 80 TfL stations with NCP car parks.

Jonny Combe, the UK CEO of PayByPhone, said: “We are delighted to launch PayByPhone in the TfL car parks managed by NCP. After signing the agreement with NCP last year, this is another exciting stage in our partnership.

“Mobile parking payments have many advantages to drivers and to parking operators and helps make the parking experience more hassle-free.”

In addition to the cashless payment and Extend-From-Anywhere benefits, PayByPhone users can also use the recently launched Maps and Nearby Parking features which allows drivers to find the closest PayByPhone parking location and to locate parking before they leave for their destination.
