An injured sparrowhawk is recovering after being rescued from a Borehamwood back garden.
Neighbours spotted the bird cowering in the corner on August 17 and realised that it was injured as it was unable to fly off.
Initially, they thought it may have been an eagle, and the RSPCA were called.
The bird was found in a back garden in Borehamwood on August 17
An officer attended the following morning to get it checked over by the vet.
The RSPCA confirmed the bird was actually a sparrowhawk - a small bird of prey commonly found in gardens.
Last week, the RSPCA gave the following update: "An officer was called to collect an injured sparrowhawk from Borehamwood after a call to the RSPCA.
"The bird was taken to South Essex Wildlife Hospital where it was examined by a vet.
"It is thought the young male may have sustained a head trauma as a result of flying into something and he was concussed.
"The bird is recovering at the hospital and it is hoped he will be released back to the wild in the next few weeks."
Neighbours have nicknamed the bird 'Eddie'.
