SCHOOL leavers in Ealing are encouraged to explore all options to continue their post-16 education after GCSE results day.

Young people in England must remain in education until age 18, and training provider Skills Training UK, which has a centre in Ealing, is highlighting the range of vocational options for those looking for an alternative to college or sixth form.

The training provider offers three routes for young people – a range of Level 1/2 qualifications, including English and maths for 16-18s, traineeships for 16-24s and apprenticeships.

All routes offer qualifications in specific work sectors, such as business enterprise, warehousing, and health and social care.

Graham Clarke, director of education and social mobility, said: “We know results day can be a stressful time for young people and their families, especially if their hard work isn’t rewarded.

“At our Ealing Centre, we offer free vocational training where young people are supported to achieve the skills they need.”

Noon Abubakr was referred to Skills Training UK’s Ealing Centre after arriving from Sudan with her family in January.

She completed qualifications in Business Enterprise, English and maths, enjoyed work placements with local firms and is now set to study towards GCSEs in English, chemistry, biology, and physics at Uxbridge College.

Noon hopes to become an NHS doctor.
