A DEVOTED tennis enthusiast received a visit from two MPs after she was named Volunteer of the Year in the LTA Awards.

Rupa Huq (Ealing Central and Acton) and Ruth Cadbury (Brentford & Isleworth) made a special trip to Gunnersbury Triangle Club on Saturday to meet the club’s chair, Marina Foxlee.

A member for 30 years, she is the driving force behind the club’s development in recent years, with her vision and energy helping achieving extensive improvements to facilities, including full disabled access.

She has also helped grow membership, organised its open day, promoted the club in the area and re-invigorated social tennis sessions.

Rupa Huq said: “I’m delighted that my constituent is, if not quite one in a million, one in 25,000 as the LTA’s volunteer of the year.

Gunnersbury Triangle Club is based at The Ridgeway, near Acton Town station. It was founded more than 90 years ago on land donated by builder George Cooper, who built the Triangle estate.
