There have been more traveller sightings reported at Stanmore Marsh after previous sightings earlier this month.

Traveller camps set up at Stanmore Marsh have returned after previous groups were evicted early in July.

Harrow Council have confirmed sightings of at least seven to eight caravans parked at the site.

Masooma Sarwar, Campaigns Manager at Harrow Council said: “We are aware of it; we are currently working with the police and they should be offsite by 12pm tomorrow.”

If the travellers have not re-located within the set time, then police officers will enforce Section 61 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act (1994), the power to remove trespassers on land.

This month has had several traveller sightings, specifically at sites in Canons Park, Whitchurch Playing Fields, Newton Farm Park and Stanmore Marsh.

The leader of Harrow Council, Councillor Graham Henson, previously stated that “swift action” is taken with reported sightings, but the council must operate “within the law” when handling these cases.
