A HAREFIELD teacher has a place in the ‘Hall of Fame’ awards run by social mobility charity, the Transformation Trust.

It has a range of programmes to help pupils from deprived backgrounds develop new skills and discover their talents.

The awards recognise exceptional commitment from individual teachers in the 1,300 state secondary schools with whom they work.

Karen Raper, from Harefield Academy, was nominated by her deputy head for her work overseeing the pastoral care of students, particularly when first joining the school.

The award winners were announced at the trust’s annual Rock Assembly, a careers fair cum pop concert at Wembley Arena.

Mrs Raper was one of four teachers honoured for her work in going above and beyond to support her students.

Fiona O’Sullivan, head of Harefield Academy, said: “Karen is a vital cog in the wheel of our pastoral systems and ensures a successful and happy integration into school for new joiners.

“She is the go-to person for many. She always makes time for them and their families, providing a healthy balance of relentless positivity and tough love when needed.”
