Wealdstone High Street has been shut by police following reports of a shooting.

However the Met says no one has been injured after armed officers rushed to the shopping street at 2.38pm today (Saturday).

The Met says a firearm was discharged and a knife has also been recovered but they have no reports of anyone injured.

Police activity centered around shops in the High Street near the junction of Gordon Road and the area remains sealed off.

No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.

Bus routes 140 182 186 258 340 H9 H10 and UL13 are being diverted via Palmerston Road and George Gange Way - missing the stops at The Wealdstone Centre, Transport for London says.

This afternoon's incident comes after a man was killed after he was shot in nearby Wembley last night.

Police were called to Harrow Road at 8.10pm and found a man in his 30s suffering from critical gunshot injuries.

He was taken to hospital but died a short while later. His next of kin has been informed.

Police have launched a murder investigation. No arrests have been made so far.
