A RUISLIP man walked the 64 miles from Cambridge to London over two days to raise money for The National Brain Appeal.
Lewis Owens’ Longest Day Challenge was to The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in Queen Square.
It included a quick stop at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium, where he met former England and Arsenal captain Tony Adams, who joined him for the final leg of his journey.
Dr Owens, a higher education specialist and writer, chose to support the charity after his friend, pianist Colin Stone, had successful brain surgery at the hospital in 2018.
He said: “What I have done in 48 hours is nothing compared to the incredible care given to patients in The National Hospital day in day out.
“The experience has reaffirmed to me just how important the work of the National Brain Appeal is, supporting the amazing clinicians treating people with a whole range of neurological conditions, including brain tumours, stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease and dementia.”
