An innovative development programme to support musical theatre professionals are looking for “fresh innovative voices” throughout east London and Essex.
The 10 Minute Musicals programme is organised and delivered by Leeway Productions in partnership with Wales Millennium Centre, but it is now coming to the Queen’s Theatre, Hornchurch, on October 2.
The organisers are on the hunt for people “who are willing to push boundaries and play with form; creatives with a passion for the continued development of their practice”.
Leeway Productions director, Angharad Lee, said: “We encourage a continued conversation with creatives and believe that this creative development project is a great springboard towards casting a new light on how you usually work.”
He added that 10 Minute Musicals includes networking, development and examining of current practice and provides the support artists need when evolving, progressing and advancing their writing skills for this genre.
Composers, playwrights, lyricists, librettists, poets and musicians in Essex and east London who are interested in being involved in this project should register their interest by emailing artistcallout@queens-theatre.co.uk by August 22.
Expressions of interest can be submitted as an individual artist or as an existing writer or composer team. Send your name, email address, phone number and a short example of your work along with a CV and biography and what you wish to gain from the opportunity.
Applicants must be able to commit to three weekend workshop dates in September and their work will be shared at the 10 Minute Musical event on October 2.
