Still on a high from her latest Strictly Come Dancing win, champion performer Oti Mabuse is heading out on the road in mid-2021.

The South African dancer tangoed her way to the top with celebrity partner Bill Bailey in series 18 of Strictly late last year, getting her hands on the coveted glitterball for the second year in a row.

There were no live audiences for the latest series of Strictly because of the coronavirus pandemic - but all being well, she will be showing off her dancing talents live on the stage in High Wycombe in June.

The 30-year-old is creating a live show like no other.

Called ‘Oti Mabuse - I Am Here’, it promises to be a whirlwind celebration of the influences and inspirations that took her on a journey from growing up in South Africa to following her dream.

Oti and Bill Bailey won Strictly Come Dancing in 2020

It will be a night of electrifying choreography as Oti will be joined by some of the world’s greatest dancers and the West End’s finest singers and musicians.

Strictly fans can expect mesmerising Jives and pumping Sambas to South Africa’s exhilarating Kwaito - right here in High Wycombe.

Oti was initially supposed to bring the show to the Wycombe Swan on June 8, but the show has been pushed back to June 30 as the pandemic continues to affect our theatres.

The show is called ‘I Am Here’, a literal translation of her name from Setswana, a language of South Africa.

“It is my dream, to be here, to be doing this,” she told BFP’s sister paper the Glasgow Times.

“But also, I think the title says something about how we all feel just now - I’m here, I will no longer take one day for granted, I will appreciate everything, friends and family, dance, the ability to work.”

Oti has been a familiar face on our television screens since she joined the professional cast of Strictly in 2015, partnering with Olympic boxer Anthony Ogogo.

She won the glitterball trophy with Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher in 2019 and again with Bill in 2020.

She was born in Pretoria and started Latin American and ballroom dancing at the age of four.

She moved to Germany to pursue her career in dance, although her first plan was to study civil engineering, and her success caught the eye of producers on Let’s Dance, the German version of Strictly Come Dancing.

A chance encounter with a BBC employee who needed help speaking German led to a conversation about Strictly, and Oti’s move to London.

To see Oti and her talented cast in action, get your tickets now for ‘I Am Here’ at the Wycombe Swan on June 30 at 7.30pm.
