Sophie Turner has said that being able to go out and drink a lot without being photographed is something she missed out on while starring in Game Of Thrones.

The actress was cast as Sansa Stark in the hit fantasy drama series at the age of 13, and she spent the next 10 years of her life in the programme, being thrust into the public eye in the process.

Turner told the Graham Norton Show that she wishes she had had “the university experience”, when asked if she felt she had missed out on anything while growing up.

She added: “I wish I could have gone out and drunk a lot and thrown up in the middle of a club without it being photographed!

“But, I am happy with my Game Of Thrones experience. I don’t think I missed out on too much.”

Turner, 23, said that her co-stars in the series would be “very protective” around her while on-set in her younger years.

She said: “There was one moment before a scene where Peter (Dinklage) and Conleth (Hill) were talking amongst themselves and they were swearing, and Peter was like, ‘Don’t swear in front of Sophie. She’s 14, you can’t swear.’

“And then they called, ‘action’ and the first words of the scene were a string of obscenities and expletives! It was all very strange.”

Turner also said she is relieved that she no longer has to keep spoilers to herself.

“It’s nice to be able to tell all,” she said.

“I’ve been keeping in spoilers for so many years and I can finally say goodbye to them.”

Turner was on the chat show alongside her new husband Joe Jonas’ ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift, who appeared on the programme to perform her new single Me.

Turner, who is next appearing in X-Men: Dark Phoenix, was also joined on the sofa by her co-stars Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender.

The Graham Norton Show is on BBC One at 10.35pm on Friday.
