THE SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL (A242) HAMPTON COURTWAY, EAST MOLESEY/HAMPTON TEMPORARY (ONE-WAY AND CLOSURE) TRAFFIC ORDER 2017

THE SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL (A242) HAMPTON COURTWAY, EAST MOLESEY/HAMPTON TEMPORARY (ONE-WAY AND CLOSURE) TRAFFIC ORDER 2017
SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL, WITH THE CONSENT OF THE LONDON BOROUGH OF RICHMOND UPON THAMES PROPOSE TO MAKE the above mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 ("the Act") the effect of which will be to: -
(a) impose anorthboundone-waysystem for all vehicular traffic in that length of the westernside of the carriageway of (A309) Hampton Court Way, as extends from its junction with (A3050) River Bank, northwards,toapoint wherethe single carriageway becomes adualcarriageway;
(b) impose asouthbound one-way system for all vehicular traffic in that length of the easternside of the carriageway of (A309) Hampton Court Way, as extends from its junction with (D956) Cigarette Island, northwards, to apoint wherethe single carriageway becomes adualcarriageway;
(c) prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of the southbound carriageway of (A309) Hampton Court Way, extending from the roundabout junction of (A309) Hampton Court Way
and (A308) Hampton Court Road Southwards to a point wherethe dual carriageway becomes asingle carriageway. The alternative route willbevia: Hampton Court Road, Staines Road East, Staines Road West, Windmill Road, Upper HallifordRoad, Upper HallifordBy-Pass, Gaston Bridge Road, Walton Bridge Road, Hepworth Way, Church Street, Terrace Road, Hurst Road and River Bank;
(d) prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of the northbound carriageway of (A309) Hampton Court Way, extending from the roundabout junction of (A309) Hampton Court Way and (A308) Hampton Court Road Southwards to a point wherethe dual carriageway becomes asingle
carriageway. The alternative route will be via: Bridge Road, River Bank, Hurst Road, Terrace
Road, Church Street, Hepworth Way, Walton Bridge Road, Gaston Bridge Road, Upper Halliford
By-Pass, Upper HallifordRoad, Windmill Road, Staines Road West, Staines Road East and Hampton Court Road.
This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to carry out maintenance works and/or resurfacing works and/or bridge joint replacement works. These works areanticipated to be carried out over twelve nights, as soon as possible within the eighteen month period of operation of this Order which commences on 1st September 2017. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the prohibitions will only operate when the relevant traffic signs aredisplayed. For part (a) and (b) above: The restriction shall not apply to vehicles being used in relation to anything done with the permission or at the direction of apolice constable in uniform; or in accordance with any restriction or
requirement indicated by traffic signs placed on the road by or on behalf of the Police.
For part (c) and (d) above: Access for pedestrians will be maintained at all times. All other vehicular traffic will be maintained via the signed diversion route.
