Police are investigating after a man was shot dead on the M1 in County Armagh
A man has been shot dead as he drove to work on a motorway in Northern Ireland.
The man was shot dead on the M1 motorway while on his way to work at Maghaberry high-security prison in County Antrim, DUP assembly member Paul Givan said.
He was ambushed between the Lurgan and Portadown junctions of the M1 in County Armagh, the Police Service of Northern Ireland said.
It is understood there were several shots. The man's car careered off the road and he died later.
It is believed he was heading towards Belfast on his way to work.
