Celebrities have attended the world premiere of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Love Never Dies - the follow-up to The Phantom Of The Opera.

The show, at London's Adelphi Theatre, will be followed by unveilings in New York and Australia.

Actor Richard E Grant, arriving at the glitzy event, said: "Godfather II was better than Godfather I. Hopefully this will be the same."

Former X-Factor contestant Rhydian added: "I'm very excited.

"I haven't heard any of this show yet, I just left it for tonight ...

"I think it's going to be awesome."

Film director and food critic Michael Winner said he saw the original Phantom four times and was looking forward to the new show.

He said of Lord Lloyd-Webber: "I'm a fan because he writes such wonderful melodies.

"Wherever you go in the world they're playing his music."

The Phantom Of The Opera has been seen by more than 100 million people, has been translated into 15 languages and won 50 awards. Love Never Dies continues the story of the Phantom, who has moved from his lair in the Paris Opera House to haunt the fairgrounds of New York's Coney Island.
