Wood hopeful of another three points
Wood saw off Hendon with a Danny Barber goal on Tuesday night
Wood saw off Hendon with a Danny Barber goal on Tuesday night

Boreham Wood have the perfect chance to haul themselves further away from the dreaded Ryman League Premier Division drop zone.

Three points at local rivals Hendon on Tuesday night has given them a base to build upon.

And, with a home game against rock-bottom Leyton to come this Saturday, George Borg's troops have no better opportunity to pull further clear of their fellow strugglers.

Wood go into this weekend's game against Leyton three places above the drop zone and will be firm favourites to record another win.

Danny Barber hit the winner at Hendon in what was Borg's first away-day triumph in the league since taking charge.

It could not have come at a more important time.

There are some crucial games coming up for Wood. I really hope we can stay up, but I'm not convinced. There's been too much upheaval and now I think it might come back to haunt us.
