STEVEN GERRARD is happy for the Ibrox crowd to dream of a potential title triumph this term as Rangers focus on the job in hand in the Premiership.

The Light Blues moved level on points with Celtic at the top of the table with their long-awaited Old Firm win at Ibrox last month.

Now Gerrard will take his side to Rugby Park tonight as they look to pick up where they left off in their first league outing of the New Year.

Rangers were given little chance of lifting the silverware at the start of the season but have a chance to prove their Premiership credentials in the coming weeks.

And that is all that Gerrard is concerned about as supporters start to raise expectation levels and think about a 55th top flight crown.

Gerrard said: “It’s nice that the fans are in a good place. The players have made them feel really good.

“There is no harm in dreaming. Of course there’s not.

“But there is still a lot of hard work to do, a lot of tricky games and there will still be some twists and turns and bumps along the way, which we will be prepared for.

“But I’m sitting here happy and positive and confident because I believe we’ve got a good team that is capable of getting in the race.

“I can’t really control [the fans’ thoughts]. We are at a club where if you get fantastic results there is going to be that natural thing where fans get carried away.

“But it also happens when you drop a couple of points or you lose a game - they think the world’s going to end.

“So it’s natural. It was the same at Liverpool. It’s the same here. It’s a huge football club.

“All I can do is try to be as honest as I can and hopefully the majority of the fans stay with me.”
