MEMBERS of Ealing, Southall and Middlesex Athletics Club were celebrating this week after their favourite daughter Kelly Holmes struck Olympic gold for Great Britain.
Holmes, who took first place in the 800m in Athens, is still a member of the Perivale-based club that she joined 12 years ago.
At that time it was called Middlesex Ladies and current president Val Davies is delighted with her progress.
She said: "It's a marvellous achievement and we've sent her our congratulations."
And now Davies is tipping Holmes for more gold medal glory in the 1500 metres on Saturday.
She said: "She's certainly among the favourites and the 800m is one of the hardest events."
Holmes represented the club in the southern league before joining the army in the mid 1990s.
