Brentford manager Andy Scott was pleased after his side avoided an FA Cup shock at Havant and Waterlooville on Sunday.
The Bees booked their place in the second round after a 3-1 win at the Blue Square South side in front of the television cameras.
Scott, whose side will play away to either Eastbourne Borough or Barrow in the next round, said: "It was always going to be a tricky one. There were a few upsets [at the weekend]. I'm delighted that we are through to the second round and that we don't have another game in the schedule as we want to keep as many people as fresh as possible.
"We want to progress as far as we can, earn some money and pit our wits against better sides. We know if we do a job at Eastbourne or Barrow we might get one of those draws in the third round."
The Bees are away to Port Vale tomorrow in League Two.
