It has been a tough season for Harlequins but lock James Horwill is adamant his side will be doing everything they can to finish the campaign on a high note.

Quins went down 37-9 at Gloucester to condemn John Kingston’s side to a third straight Premiership defeat.

Marcus Smith had kicked three penalties to make it 16-9 with little over 15 minutes remaining but three late tries from the hosts confirmed a 13th league loss for Quins.

The 32-year-old has put the loss down to inaccuracy in their play but knows his team are determined to put it right with two rounds remaining.
“The result is what it is. There was a lot of effort from the boys and that’s credit to them,” he claimed.

“But accuracy has killed us in the end and Gloucester are a good side and they’ve have hurt us. In that first half we didn’t get a chance to hold onto the ball and to only be down by four points was probably a good result.

“In the second half we were too inaccurate, the ball was turned over too easily and let them off the hook. We’ve got two games left and we need to get some results and at the moment we’re not delivering that.

“We’ve got to look at ourselves individually and we have to be better and perform as a group. We are working together and that’s one thing I can assure everyone out there. Hopefully the tide will turn but we just have to keep working.”

Following a 35-5 humbling at home to London Irish in Round 19, Quins kept themselves in the contest until the late flurry from Jason Woodward, Jake Polledri and Ruan Ackermann made it a comfortable win but director of rugby Kingston was proud of his side despite the result.

He said:  "We were stunned by the level of performance last week. I knew there would be a reaction as the boys are proud of this club.

"It was on a knife-edge when it was only 16-9, but we made too many errors and they deserved to win.”
