QPR manager Ian Holloway understands his team’s clash with Preston will be a tough test but retains belief his team can still deliver a win.

The R’s bounced back from a heavy defeat at Hull City last weekend in their mid-week match against Sheffield Wednesday to win 4-2 at home.

Holloway’s side have won three of their last six matches and most notably held high flying Fulham to a 2-2 draw last month.

Whilst the R’s hopes of promotion are no longer a possibility, Preston are still in with an outside chance of a play-off place.

The Lilywhites ended their three-game losing streak against Leeds in mid-week with three second-half goals.

The two sides last met in December, in a game peppered with controversy as the R’s striker Jamie Mackie was shown red.

The game was decided in the final minute of the game with a goal from Preston’s Jordan Hugill proving the difference in a very tight encounter.

Holloway said: “We face a Preston side who will no doubt provide a very difficult test. They’ve enjoyed a great season under Alex Neil.

“We went up there earlier in the season and were beaten narrowly, with almost the last kick of the game and with ten men, which hurt.

“I didn’t feel that Jamie Mackie deserved a sending off and thought our ten men did really, really well – including Ilias Chair.

“It’ll be tough, but I’ll be putting a team out there that’s fresh, that’s ready to go and one who I think can win us the game.

“We also need our fans, who I have to admit were magnificent once again on Tuesday.”
