Everton's Chloe Kelly is determined not to let her former Arsenal past cloud her focus ahead of this weekend’s SSE Women’s FA Cup semi-final clash with the Gunners.

Striker Kelly penned senior terms with the North Londoners weeks before they downed favourites Chelsea 1-0 to lift the trophy for the record 14th time in 2016.

The 20-year-old is now banging in the goals line at Everton, having joined permanently in January following a successful loan stint on Merseyside, as they take on Arsenal at the Marine Travel Arena, home of Marine FC, on Sunday.

Kelly is preferring to remain pragmatic about the fixture and insisted she is treating it as any other game.

However, the forward, who has scored eight goals in 17 appearances this season, admitted there will be an extra dose of spice in the game with a few familiar faces looking back at her from the opposition half.

“It will be exciting for me, playing against Arsenal having being there previously," said Kelly. "But it’s another game really and I just want to show what I can do no matter who we’re playing against.

“They’re a great team, there’s no getting away from that, but we need to ind a way how to stop them.

“We’re one step away from Wembley – it’s very exciting for the team and we just want to show what we can do.

“Being in the final with Arsenal a few years back, and actually winning at Wembley, that was a great feeling and hopefully I can get back there with Everton.

“It’s everyone’s dream to play at Wembley and it would be great to get there.”

The desire to defeat Joe Muntemurro’s side and reach the home of football for the final pulsates throughout Everton’s close-knit squad.

None more delighted to play at the home of football would be skipper Danielle Turner, who has faith in Kelly and the rest of her troops to go toe-to-toe with one of England’s form sides.

Prior to last week’s draw with Chelsea, Arsenal won seven games on the spin, including shocking Manchester City to lift the Continental Tyres Cup in March.

But Turner has backed the Toffees, who have won four of the last six in all competitions themselves, to make it difficult on home soil and get the result they need to have a shot at the trophy at the final on May 5.

“We want to explode out and get at Arsenal and stop them as much as we can,” said the 26-year-old defender.

“Throughout the season, we’ve been renowned as a team which is hard to play against – we’re definitely a team that gets in people’s faces but we can also play as well.

“We have different qualities, we know Arsenal are a very rugged side, but so are we. We’re looking forward to it.

“Arsenal have beaten us twice this season [1-0 and 2-0] but they were both close games and we competed well in both of those games. Hopefully we can go one step further on Sunday and beat them.

“For me it will be a massive honour to lead this team out at Wembley – the opportunity to do that would be incredible.”
