Dean Smith has praised Brentford’s improved squad depth as the Bees face Championship frontrunners Wolves at Molineux on Tuesday night.

The tenth-placed side go into the Championship clash after a successful festive run of three wins and a draw in their last four league games.

Goals from Lasse Vibe and Florian Jozefzoon helped condemn managerless Sheffield Wednesday to a 2-0 defeat at Griffin Park last Saturday.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s Wolves are ten points clear of second-placed Derby and have accumulated the same number of points as the Bees over their last four games.

Smith was full of admiration for Nuno’s high flying Wolves, but added his side can match them man for man.

“They are the best team that I have seen in the league,” said Smith. “We played them earlier [in August’s 0-0 draw]. It was a tight game which could have gone either way.

“We believe we have the squad of players here to match them. You are looking over your shoulder and you can put Kamohelo Mokotjo on or Ollie Watkins, and Neal Maupay.

“Alan Judge is pushing for a place now as are Lewis Macleod and Josh Clarke. I haven’t had those riches for a while so it’s nice to have them now.”

Wolves defender Danny Batth is suspended following his dismissal against Bristol City’s for a tackle on Hordur Magnusson in their fiery victory at Ashton Gate.

For the Bees, Judge is fit having recovered from a broken leg. Right-back Henrik Dalsgaard is doubtful with a knee problem.
