There is little to split Queens Park Rangers and Brentford this season, be it in miles or points, but when the local rivals face off tonight Ian Holloway is hoping for a decisive result.

The sides last met in the Carabao Cup, in August, with Brentford running out 4-1 victors.

Brentford currently sit two points and one place above Holloway’s QPR in the Championship after 18 games and face the short journey across west London to Loftus Road on Monday night.

Holloway will be without trio of defenders Nedum Onuoha, Grant Hall and James Perch, and is on a three-game losing run to the Bees in all competitions.

Brentford have not won consecutive league fixtures at Loftus Road for almost 60 years, though, so Holloway will hope that record will continue tonight.

“We lost to them in the Cup with a lot of changes. I learnt a lot from that game. We need a win and what an opportunity this is for us against one of our neighbours,” he said.

“Brentford have been patient building their identity. They’ve got good footballers who move the ball well.

“We’re creating our identity still. But I’m still encouraged by what I’ve seen from us for long spells this season.”

QPR come into the match on a run of three league straight league defeats, while Brentford have won, lost and drawn their most recent set of fixtures.
