Midfielder Ryan Woods is confident Brentford have the all-round game to push towards the play-offs – starting with a derby win against Queens Park Rangers on Monday.

The Bees’ 2-0 defeat away at Cardiff City last weekend was their first loss in the Championship since a 2-1 reverse at Sheffield Wednesday back in September.

And with just a single defeat in 11, after being held to a 1-1 draw by Burton Albion in midweek, Woods is excited to experience the hostile Loftus Road atmosphere.

“We’ve lost one game in 11 – that’s play-off form if not promotion form. We’ve got to make sure we do the right things,” he said.

“I remember what Dan Bentley said earlier on in the season about us needing to win games ugly – particularly away from home.

“We can play our football in the way that we like to, but we’ve also got the other side to our game now.

“It’s a derby game. These games always produce a great atmosphere; hopefully we can continue our run of form against them and continue scoring goals. We take each game as it comes.

“There’s always a bit of build-up to these games – particularly on the day – but we’ll prepare as normal in the hope that we can go there and get the three points.”

Brentford have already visited Loftus Road this season in the Carabao Cup where they recorded a resounding 4-1 victory over their London rivals.

Rangers are just one place and two points behind The Bees but have lost their last three league games to Derby, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest.

And while Woods is wary of the aerial threat Rangers can pose, he doesn’t want his side approaching the derby any differently to a normal fixture.

“They like to get a lot of crosses into the box and they’re a very big team, but we never really worry about the opposition,” he said.

“We’ll concentrate on ourselves – what we’re good at and what we plan on doing to them – this game is no different.”
