Brentford manager Dean Smith will rely on his side’s attacking brand of football as they travel to Cardiff City.

The manager was in high spirits mid-week following his team’s third victory in a row against Leeds United on November 4, with Romaine Sawyers and Lasse Vibe finding the back of the net.

And any potential injury worries in the form of Ryan Woods and Nico Yannaris have been quashed as Henrik Dalsgaard is the only player who will not make the trip to the Welsh capital.

Consistency seems to be the clear aim for the Bees this season with nine games unbeaten and Smith is unwavering in his approach despite the international break.

“The players have been told about the standards that they’ve set and we want to keep growing those standards,” he said.

“It’s a big period for us – hopefully we can keep playing well, keep picking up points and then we’ll see where we are at Christmas.”

Smith’s side face a Cardiff City outfit who have found a healthy run of form under Neil Warnock and are difficult to beat at home.

“Cardiff have started the season well and we’ve always had tough games against Neil Warnock’s teams in the past – I’m sure this one will be no different,” he added.

“They’ve got aspirations of finishing in the top two and getting into the Premier League. We know it’ll be a tough game but we’ve got great belief in our ability.

“They’ve got a lot of pace in Junior Hoilett and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing who’s gone there and done well. They’ve got height, strength, pace and power.

“You’ve got to be very respectful of what they’ve done already but we certainly don’t fear them – we’ll be looking to go there to play the football that we know we’re capable of.

“As I said on Tuesday we look like a group of men now but that will surely be tested on Saturday at Cardiff.”
