The first phase of renovation work since Hanwell Town FC became joint winners of the Buildbase Renovation Programme is now underway at the west London club.

Using some of the £50,000 product bursary awarded in the first annual competition staged by builders’ merchants Buildbase – and with expert support from the local Buildbase branch – the club is beginning a transformation ahead of the new 2017-18 season.

This includes a new kitchen, improvements to the clubhouse, entrance gates and new toilet drainage facilities.

Nigel Hunt, Commercial Director at Hanwell Town, said: “The club has been transformed already and we are only part of the way through what we plan to do with the product bursary.”

“These improvements, that have happened only since we were officially made winners of the award in May, will make life better for our teams and spectators alike. And it’s been very easy with the help of the local Buildbase branch providing advice and materials.”

The next phase of the club renovation programme will include new dressing rooms and showers for players, a children’s playground and new toilets. The club is also obtaining drawings for a new, permanent stand to replace an existing temporary spectators’ area. This will include a 50,000-litre rainwater capture reservoir to water the pitch and reduce use of clean water.

The Buildbase Renovation Programme is the first time that clubs competing in the FA Trophy and Vase have been offered the opportunity to win vital building materials to help renovate their clubs and it covers building, electrical, plumbing and hire products provided by local Buildbase branches.

Paul Roche, Commercial Director at Buildbase said: “The work that’s already been completed at Hanwell Town FC is proof that grassroots football clubs can make a real difference to their players, supporters and the local community with the right support.”

The Buildbase Club Renovation Programme will run again in 2018, with a further £100,000 available for two clubs. Buildbase announced its two-year title sponsorship of The Buildbase FA Trophy and The Buildbase FA Vase in August last year.

The Buildbase FA Trophy is open to clubs playing in Steps 1-4 of The FA National League System the four tiers immediately below League Two of the English Football League. The current season has 276 clubs contesting for top honors.

The Buildbase FA Vase is open to Clubs at Step 5-7 of The FA National League System and the 2016/17 season featured 592 Clubs.
