Old Mutual Wealth has extended its commitment to rugby in the UK with sponsorship of the Women’s Team of the Year category at the National Rugby Awards at Twickenham.

The RFU-backed event, which celebrates the best of the grassroots game across England, is once again being fronted by ambassador Chris Robshaw alongside a host of top international stars.

A total of 13 awards will be presented on the night, honouring the best amateur players and coaches in the men’s and women’s game, schools teams, sponsors, facilities and volunteers. There is also a prize for the best professional player of the year.

As a principal partner of England Rugby, Old Mutual Wealth are already title sponsor of the Men's and Women's Autumn Internationals – the first principal partnership to cover both men’s and women’s matches.

The sponsorship agreement also includes partnering with Kids First. Old Mutual Wealth Kids First is the new approach to the game for seven to 13-year-olds, that puts the interests of children first so that they can enjoy their rugby and develop skills both on and off the field.

Old Mutual Wealth’s involvement in the National Rugby Awards continues their ethos on the game – where they are big advocates of the value of expert guidance, and setting small targets to achieve big ambitions.

"At Old Mutual Wealth we are very excited to be sponsoring the National Rugby Awards this year," said Marketing Director Michelle Andrews.

"The Awards provide recognition to clubs and players at every level of the game, as well as those who invest so much time and energy into helping the game prosper.

"The National Rugby Awards is a great evening to celebrate all of the efforts made across the entire sport. "This is important to us as we are also a Principal Partner of England Rugby, where we support all levels of the game from the grassroots to the elite, encompassing men’s, women’s and children’s rugby.”

The National Rugby Awards are now in their second year, following a hugely successful launch in 2015, and The Rose Room at Twickenham is expected to be packed on September 1 with representatives of clubs up and down the country.

As well as honouring the best in the game, the National Rugby Awards is also raising funds for the RFU Injured Players Foundation.

Awards ambassador Chris Robshaw said: “I am honoured to be a part of an event that recognises the, often unheralded, work and achievements of those involved in rugby around the country.

“It is fantastic that the National Rugby Awards is now a permanent fixture in the rugby calendar and has now become the largest rugby club awards ceremony in the world.

“It is a very exciting partnership that we are all thrilled to be a part of with Old Mutual Wealth. We look forward to working with them and I am sure they will play a huge part of growing the awards as well as the amateur game.”
