JACK O’CONNELL could make his first appearance for Brentford on Saturday as the West Londoners bid to return to winning ways against Leeds United.

O’Connell – an England U19 international – completed a deadline day move to Griffin Park for an undisclosed fee from Blackburn Rovers.

Brentford narrowly missed out to fellow promotion hopefuls Middlesbrough last weekend, but they still remain well-placed in fifth, with four points separating them from seventh-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Mark Warburton will once again be without long-term absentee Scott Hogan, while Alan McCormack is still a couple of weeks away from full fitness, despite returning for the U21 side in midweek.

The Bees had not beaten Leeds since 1953 before this season, but are now looking to do the double over the Yorkshire side having won the reverse fixture 2-0 in September.

However, the West Londoners’ record at Elland Road leaves plenty to be desired, with no victories and four defeats in their last eight visits.

Things are beginning to look better for Neil Redfearn and Leeds, who sit 19th, five points above the drop zone, and are looking for three consecutive league wins for the first time since November 2013.

Irishman Jonathan Douglas is set to agree a new deal at Griffin Park.

The 33-year-old has been an ever present this season, with five goals in 27 appearances, but his current contract is due to expire in the summer.

Academy graduate Herson Rodriques Alves has signed his first professional contract.

The Portuguese, 18, was part of the Brentford team that won the prestigious Milk Cup in Northern Ireland in 2012, but registration difficulties have prevented him playing much football since then.
