Thomas Frank believes keeping Brentford’s unbeaten run going will be huge for the rest of their campaign after their dramatic 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace.

The Bees extended their run of games without defeat to 11 games after Vitaly Janelt headed a late equaliser in the 96th minute, setting the Gtech Community Stadium alight.

Eberchi Eze opened the scoring for Crystal Palace in the 69th minute after coming on from the bench.

But Frank’s side held their nerve until the very end as substitute Janelt poached Bryan Mbeumo’s injury-time cross.

“It’s a big thing that we can keep this unbeaten run going and bring the energy going forward,” Frank said.

“What a header from Vitaly Janelt, the ending shows the mentality, spirit and the energy from these players.

“The feeling when you have a late equaliser, the emotions running through your body is crazy.”

A draw keeps Graham Potters’ delipidated Chelsea at bay as the Bees sit on 35 points in 10th – level with Liverpool and Brighton who both have a game in hand.

“In that way, it feels like a game we have won but I'm still mixed emotions because we only got a point,” Frank said.

“But a point when you equalise late on a day where it’s not going 100% and we continue this unbeaten run, it just gives us constant confidence which is good.”

Late goalscorer Vitaly Janelt, who took his season’s tally to three goals, was brought on by Frank as a centre-back but found his way into Palace’s box late on.

“Amazing. I think sometimes you can’t describe in words how nice is the feeling. The late goals feel like a win but it’s just a point,” Janelt said.

“It wasn’t the best day for us in general today but no matter if it’s not the best day, every time it’s possible to get at least a point.

“We have a gameplan and we didn’t play well but we have to stick to them no matter if we concede a goal or if we’re up.”

Brentford can kick back for a week with no fixture as Manchester United travel to Wembley for the League Cup final next weekend.

The Bees host sixth-placed Fulham in a fortnight where they look to extend their unbeaten run to 12 games and compete for a European spot.

Janelt added, “Every game is tough and everyone knows we can get at least a point. We are 11 games unbeaten now.

“I don’t think it’s a top-secret thing, it’s just to stay in the games, stick to the game plan and then try to score and don’t concede the goals.”
