GARETH Ainsworth said that his Rangers debut was like playing in a cup final.
The pacy winger who joined from Cardiff City over the summer proved his worth immediately with a stunning performance and two well-taken goals.
He said: "It felt like playing in the cup final and I really really enjoyed it."
Ainsworth became an immediate favourite with the crowd of more than 14,000. And he reckons the vocal support made all the difference.
He said: "The fans were fantastic. Sometimes it was like having another player out there. It sent a shiver down my spine.
"All they expect is 100 per cent and that's what I give. I'm not the most gifted of players but I always give 100 per cent."
Ainsworth was once again on target in Rangers' 2-1 victory over Cheltenham in the Carling Cup. Richard Langley scored the winner.
Brentford went out of the Carling Cup after losing 4-0 to West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday night.
