Queens Park Rangers owner Flavio Briatore has justified sacking first-team coach Iain Dowie by claiming keeping him would have been a "disaster" for the club.
Dowie was dismissed last month after only 15 games in charge at Loftus Road but Briatore insists he had to make an early decision.
Briatore told The Times: "I was not happy with the football that Dowie was producing, simple as that.
"If we had not made the decision about Dowie, the season could have been a big disaster. I'm not scared to make a decision. Not making a decision is often a bad decision."
The identity of the next permanent manager of Rangers is still up in the air. It has been reported Briatore is keen on giving the job to caretaker manager Gareth Ainsworth.
