BRENTHAM saw their hopes of reaching the Evening Standard Trophy disappear on Sunday when they lost to High Wycombe by 93 runs at the Bucks side's London Road ground.

They were up against it from the time Wycombe's explosive opener David Taylor made 69 off just 39 balls to give the hosts a flying start, to the concern of a good number of travelling fans from the Ealing-based club.

Off spinner Matthew Ennion bowled beautifully to concede just 26 runs from his ten overs, but Wycombe's score of 232-5 was still formidable, Mark Wright undefeated on 54.

Daniel Rodgers, fresh from his 181 the previous day, and Majid Ali batted well to put on 75 for the second wicket, but when Rodgers chipped a catch to mid-wicket for 37, and Ali was almost immediately run out for 34, the innings slid from 77-1 to 94-7.

Only some tail-end resistance took the score to 139, Wycombe's own off spinner Russell Curzon-Thompson claiming 3-27 and Taylor 2-23 to cement his claim as man of the match.
