Yoann Barbet knows Saturday’s clash with Birmingham City will have a special flavour to it for Brentford fans because of the number of former Bees players now plying their trade at St Andrew’s.

Thomas Frank’s men prepare to take on a Birmingham side on Saturday that could feature former favourite Jota, who joined the Blues from Brentford in 2017.

Jota, along with Harlee Dean and Maxime Colin, is one three former Bees players available for selection for Birmingham with the former recently returning from an injury lay-off.

“It will be tough. It will be an important game especially for the fans – with the players who play there,” said Barbet.

“They are on a really good run and only two points from the play-offs. They are really tough to break down and really compact, we saw that at the home game.

“They are scoring a lot of goals at the moment but we need to go there and be confident – we are a good team we can play football and we need to show that.”

Barbet recently brought up 100 club appearances for the Bees and reflected positively on the time he has spent at Griffin Park.

“It’s good for some people it is just 100 games but I am very pleased to do it at Brentford and I hope for many more,” said the Frenchman.

“It has been a good three and a half years. I grew up as a man and as a player here and I am really happy to give this club 100 games.”
