Judd Trump admitted he was well below his best as he bowed out of the UK Championship.

The Bristolian, who revealed he has not been at his fluent best all week at the Barbican in York, came a cropper to the experienced Joe Perry in the last 16.

Trump lost 6-4 to ‘Gentleman’ Joe, and believes he wasted several good opportunities to progress despite his stuttering performance.

“I didn’t feel good – I didn’t feel great throughout the whole tournament, I was just scraping through and you can’t rely on that all the time,” Trump said.

“Sometimes you need to raise your game – I had a good lead and just missed my chances and played badly.

“I think Joe will be happy – he left me in the balls quite a few times and I missed one too many.”
